Near New Bedford c. 1959
This piece began with a single image found tucked away in an old camera box. The photograph was a catalyst for an investigation of a place and furthermore a connection with an individual who was able to speak to the origins of the image. His looking at the photograph prompted fragments of stories and provided glimpses of a time and place that is very different than the world we live in today. I am drawn to the fragmented nature of memory and the ability of a single image to work as a time capsule, albeit one where much remains unknown.
