Near New Bedford C. 1959 (2012)

This piece began with a single image found tucked away in an old camera box. The photograph was a catalyst for an investigation of a place and furthermore a connection with an individual who was able to speak to the origins of the image - my maternal grandfather. His looking at the photograph prompted fragments of stories and provided glimpses of a time and place that is very different than the world we live in today. I am drawn to the fragmented nature of memory and the ability of a single image to work as a time capsule, albeit one where much remains unknown.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
